CHILD SAFETY
The most serious threat to your children is unintentional injury, and the vast majority of these accidents can be prevented by taking precautions. The National Safe Kids Campaign has an excellent list of safety tips for keeping your children safe.
Car crashes are the leading cause of death in the U.S. for people between three and 33 years old. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides excellent driver safety tips and useful statistics.
Unintentional injuries in the home result in nearly 21 million medical visits each year. The Home Safety Council has put together an excellent guide for home safety, which includes this Child Safety Checklist.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children provides many resources for child protection. Other excellent, related sites include The Committee for Missing Children and SafetyCops.com.
One in five children, ages 10 to 17, receive unwanted sexual solicitations online. Report online sexual predators to the CyberTipline.
You can help prevent online exploitation. Have a look at SafeKids.com and SafeTeens.com for some good information about online computer safety for children.
The National Safety Council offers online training courses in Defensive Driving, and, soon, First Aid and CPR. The NSC also offers training courses in your area.
